so heads up about Star Citizen:
There is a guide program on the website. Basically players volunteer to show you around. avail yourself of this.
Doesn’t NEED a flight-sim style joystick, but really does help. Mouse control is like flying in a molassass.
The game basically requires 16 gb of Ram and a 1080TI minimum to be playable, with the 5700XT being useable if you faff with settings some.
It works in Proton, but you’ll want to use the LUG Helper. and the 1080 above has some Linux-scepific issues that might make your game crash when you take shield damage, only Nvidia cards that do that and nobody knows why. like 200 of us had this issue (some on Windows) and we never could get it repeatable enough to actually PATCH. doesn’t happen in Vulkan mode those.
you can save your character out of the character gen screen. forget where it ends up on Windows (as I’m a Proton guy) but if you save it, you can put it back into that folder later if you decide to get the game… Also true for custom bindings which is a freakin’ big deal, set them, save them as a custom setup, find the xml with that name and bob’s your uncle.
Steer clear of Microtech, even though it’s pretty. every time they do an open playtest, it explodes into a snowy pile of lost frames and dogcrap. The MetroLoop and Elevators in particular are horrendous for that whole weekend. makes me big sad because it’s my favorite planet in Stanton….
The devvs give you some loaner ships which can do basically everything in the game to one extent or another even if small. The Ageis Avenger Titan being the usual, can dogfight, has decent cargo, an internal walkable area (instead of just a fighter cockpit) so you can walk in with little boxes and loot (don’t drag bodies aboard and then fly somewhere with turrets lol) and is able to be used for rescue in a pinch. you can try basically everything the game has to offer. People out there WILL have more expensive and/or limited availablity ships out there, but I have been dusted by a newbie in a Penguin (the Titan, when you see it, you’ll get it) in every fighter I’ve collected over the years. Also, most of us who have fancier stuff will let you fly it around. We may let you do this with a racing ship. if that’s the case, we know you’ll explode against a building somewhere, that’s have the hilarity. Wulf knows what he did, he knew my rig at the time couldn’t maintain 15 fps outside of Port Ollie when he told me I’d "be fine" in the M50….
just checked and SKY RACKET ain’t free. at least not right now it ain’t.

Persona 5 is always a massive win, and the Persona franchise as a whole is a good series to get into if you want a collection of solid JRPGs to burn through. ❤

Star Citizen is still in Alpha and still a buggy mess. They should be embarrassed rather than trying to get even more funding off of people. When this game comes out in 2060, it will be great. Until then. Hard pass.
