Wheego are scammers, check their Trust PIlot. They rent cheap, but catch you for damage that did not occur while rented.
My airport allows vehicles to be picked up very early and returned very late with attendant there to check it in. Local car rental places usually open at 8am and close at 5 pm. Also the airport has a larger selection of vehicles. The local rental places must get vehicles delivered from airports. Sometimes local run out of specific vehicles. They offer free upgrades to people regardless if that vehicle was reserved with reservation already. Then when renter gets to office, their vehicle is gone. Then leaving renter to get vehicle different than they reserved. Airports may cost more BUT you will get vehicles you reserved and earlier pickups with very late return times. You get what you pay for.

The option through Costco is it a one time thing. We got a discount on the first reservation. We tried to make another reservation and the price nearly doubled.

I demand an immediate explanation as to why I am being charged $760 when the agreed amount was $715. I did not purchase any extra packages, and I paid for all tolls myself, with receipts to prove it. Furthermore, I returned the car in perfect condition, with the gas tank completely full.
I expect this to be a mistake and that it will be resolved immediately without any harm to me. Otherwise, I will proceed to post this email on every social media platform necessary, making public the treatment I have received from your company.
When I hire a car I have previously taken out domestic travel insurance. It covers damage to the vehicle so I don’t need to take the rental company’s expensive insurance plus I receive added benefits with the travel insurance as well.

I use enterprise all the time. I have been upgraded every single time possibly bc I’m very cordial and polite. I don’t just mean an Altima to an Impala, I mean like a mid luxury sedan to a Porsche 911 convertible lmao. Or a bmw 2 series to an 8 series convertible. I don’t think it’s luck bc it’s almost every time lol
buying the insurance from rental company is secondary to your personal insurance …always

You forgot to mention that if you use your credit card "insurance" it is reimbursement only. You pay out of pocket first (or with credit) for all the damages, which could be in the 1000’s. Then, wait for the credit card company to conduct a full investigation FIRST, and determine IF they will accept liability or not. THEN, IF they do accept liability, they will determine HOW MUCH they will reimburse, and the investigation process alone takes weeks, sometimes months. THEN, the amount they reimburse may not always cover what you paid out of pocket, and THAT reimbursement payment will also take weeks sometimes months.

The off airport recommendation is a BAD one! We’ve tried this and they would not rent to us if we did not have a local ID. They said we had to go back to the airport to get a car. It was super weird and you don’t know when the location is going to do this or not! Do not get stuck.
The insurance coverage you describe is just wrong. The credit card cdw being secondary means it doesn’t cover if the car is already insured in the rental contract. It is secondary to that. Your personal car insurance is tied to your owned car. It never covers rental cars.

Avis and Budget will always automatically charge you for gas even if it’s full. It’s been their scam for years. Always take a photo of the fuel gauge when you drop it off. Customer service knows about this scam so they quickly refund you the charge no questions asked. It’s criminal.

Hertz screwed me a few months back. I needed a seven passenger SUV. For that class they show all nice SUVs. When I arrived to pickup the car, the only available vehicle was a KIA. The third row seating was a joke. No adult could get back there without climbing

Seems standard from Avis to charge for the refuel fee. I’ve had to call to dispute them almost four times in a row in renting from them. I give pictures and receipts and they take the charges off but it’s irritating that I have to spend the time to dispute and complain on the surveys they send me after my rental. I don’t think they are getting better.
