Lets say i want a car that cost 46,650 and i want my payments to be 645 a month for 72 months as i make 1600 a month and will need an extra 2-250 for insurance what can i do to keep them from adding extra fees and stuff ontop
Of that
Take off every “option” I don’t need dealer “prep”, gap insurance (which is what YOUR insurance is for), delivery fees when the damn car is sitting on the lot, etc etc.
This works until you try buying a desirable car and they laugh you off the lot and just call back one of ten suckers who are willing to pay every fee just to get a car. This is why buying used cars in 2024 is complete ass.
Go in with a pre-approval and a total purchase price. Dont fall in love with the car. Interest rate and purchase price are the two most important factors. No warranty, no addons. If they already did some of them thats their fault. Thats where having your oit the door price comes in.
I just today tried to buy A used 15,000 dollar car!
The car dealer added on 11,000 dollars of car add on’s !
Total 26,000 dollars!
I said WTF! If I wanted a 26,000 dollar car I would buy a 26,000 dollar car
Slammed my hand on the Desk and said thanks for wasting my afternoon, and walked out!
It is located in Fresno!
In my experience car salesmen get slippery and move from fees to price and back when you negotiate. My strategy is usually to focus on the bottom line price. That takes away a lot of the turtles they have ready for the fee negotiation.
I’m not a pro at this. I have bought two cars. Just sharing my experience.
I recently looked at purchasing from a dealership that had just had a generic fees field listed at $995, a doc fee of $899, a protection package for $799, and were charging $99 over cost for the non tax fees. I got the generic fee removed, doc fee down to $300, but they refused to remove the "protection" and claimed the upcharge on the non tax fees was an electronic filing charge. I walked, found a dealer with the same vehicle who agreed to no markups
The worst is tint fees for 500 dollars for tinting the driver and passenger windows. The factory tints all windows except the driver, passenger, and the windshield. However, they like to charge $500+ and pretend like they tinted the whole vehicle. Huge scam.
– does a plumber charge admin fees to install a new faucet? Of course not. So why am I paying for their office staff , it’s part of running their business.
A Honda dealer was selling a new Civic. They were charging $795 for door protectors. They were just clear plastic strips attached to the edge of the doors. I said no thanks!
prep fee is total BS. that’s part of their cost of business, prepping a car. you don’t pay Lowes to prep a lawnmower. a doc fee if reasonable is something you just have to pay.
I need to know how to start the negotiation! He has given me the sticker price and the explanation of fees and Licensing it looks like a $200 doc fee the only thing I am needing to negotiate is the base price of the car in which I want to offer 1000 less than what they want I don’t know if I should start 2000 lower and then work my way up to a thousand off or if I should just be straightforward and say I’m willing to do it with a thousand off. Because that’s the reality do I ask them to give me a tentative offer? What’s the correct wording to request they offer because so far everything has just been typed in conversation style in email.
So you won’t get the car! I get the pin striping and stuff like that, but the doc fee is different. Even though it’s another useless fee, it’d take a lot more than that to cut the doc
In South Florida, i went thru "Offleaseonly" when i got my ’15 Corolla S back in 2017. They advertise "no negotiating, price is what you pay" (obviously not including taxes) and i absolutely loved it. Car had great miles, in great condition, and i loved the hassle free experience!
You failed to say that your demands to remove costs will not work with high-end in demand luxury vehicles. Some cars, especially Porsches are in such demand that the dealers are unwilling to budge.😅
I dont pay "doc fee" pack or prep fees or anything added on that I specifically didn’t request. If they won’t remove the fee outright, then the can take it off the selling price. ANY resistance, I stand up, thank the salesman for their time and walk out the door. I also have my own financing pre approved and work from "difference" out-the-door WITH tax. They try to add costs or some BS, I walk. I don’t play games. I want to be in and out of there is less than two hours. There’s no reason a deal should take 4-6 hours.
This video is stupid the fees you’re describing are my new very minuscule to the amount of dollars that are accrued in etc. finance interest and other miscellaneous fees
negotiate with Internet dept at dealers for cars, especially new ones and have it delivered to your home of business If things don’t look right, don’t sign the contract
I bet they will take it off if your willing to pay the sticker price. This video makes it sound like your getting a deal. The uneducated folks still buy new cars. The person that buys it 2yrs old will be way ahead of the sucker that bought it new. Cars depreciate like crazy. . Smarter folks buy from private owners with great records.Good Luck Folks https://youtube.com/shorts/I2Vl1Xdyvzw?si=vIX1hPTQo3Pr9P87
Did that at a dealer. They said they couldn’t do it. I went elsewhere only to get a call from the first dealer to negotiate. Nope, sorry I don’t play that game.
No! Don’t do that
Imagine if restaurants charged a “prep fee” to make your food 😂
If the car already has low miles do not buy the extended warranty.I’ve never needed an extended warranty ever
How to ask the dealer to take off their added fees. Walk out the door.
Typing on a computer to fill out a few documents should not cost more than $50.
Lets say i want a car that cost 46,650 and i want my payments to be 645 a month for 72 months as i make 1600 a month and will need an extra 2-250 for insurance what can i do to keep them from adding extra fees and stuff ontop
Of that
Is this how the paper looks if im buying a nissan car at the nissan dealership?
I wouldn’t even pay the doc fee.
Fuck all the fees and taxes take off the price of the car. I would be asking 15 out the door. Fuckin keep it otherwise
Helpful information in the comments too
Take off every “option” I don’t need dealer “prep”, gap insurance (which is what YOUR insurance is for), delivery fees when the damn car is sitting on the lot, etc etc.
Give me the price for the vehicle and that’s it.

I always say I either pay the fees or take off the sale price the cost of the fees.

Why 300 for 10 pieces of paper?
You are a loser. The mafia dealer is on you now.
"Dealer fee" is just a bullshit fee. It shouldn’t be ok at 400; it should be zero.

They charged me an $899 dealer fee and then an additional $1499 that was never disclosed on the itemization.

I did and got kicked out of the lot twice 😭😭😭
Green money works!

Or the dealer can just say no.

….No Dick fees!! … Done!! …it’s a simple thing.
But these negotiation only work if you buy cash is that correct?
I just buy slightly used after doing research and having a mechanic look it over. Never will buy another vehicle from a stealership again.
Don’t not go to Chevrolet at Puente Hills ther false advertisers
Have you ever heard of having to pay for a pulse fee?
we know. all kinds of bs fees. I passed on a car recently because of those types of fees.
Tried this, got kicked out of the dealership.
this guy is making double then what dealerships make in sales. Majority of dealer profit is service… good tactic tho..
So you won’t get the car! I get the pin striping and stuff like that, but the doc fee is different. Even though it’s another useless fee, it’d take a lot more than that to cut the doc
Also bring your own bank financing. You’ll get a much lower rate than they will offer even if you have Excellent credit.

What about the destination and delivery fees? A car I’m interested in, that fee is $1,595.
Are we obligated to pay destination fees?
